Michael Jackson has had one of the more fascinating careers of any pop star in history. From the top of the world as the King of Pop to the butt of jokes regarding any number of things about his personal life, “The Gloved One” has kept all eyes on him for decades. Here though are 7 thing you don’t know about Michael Jackson.

1. Michael Jackson’s breakout album, Off The Wall (1979), was produced by Quincy Jones who he met and teamed up with while filming the Wizard of Oz remake ‘The Wiz’ in which Jackson starred as the Scarecrow.

2. Michael Jackson’s Heal the World charitable foundation was founded in 1992, but by 2002 had been dissolved largely because of not filing proper paperwork related to charitable foundations. The organization was revived in 2008.

3. The story, later turning out to be false, that Michael Jackson spent time sleeping in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber was originally put out by the singer himself to garner press and cultivate his unusual reputation and identity.

4. Though he is not the originator, Michael Jackson made the famous ‘Moonwalk’ one of the most popular dance steps in history. The original name for the dance move though was the ‘Backslide’.

5. The woman walking down a dark alley in Michael Jackson’s music video for ‘Dirty Diana’ is played by Jackson’s real life sister, LaToya Jackson.

6. Michael Jackson’s famous 2,800 acre Neverland Ranch was purchased by the singer in 1988 for $30 million. The property was purchased by Jackson from a golf course developer.

7. Michael Jackson’s performance during halftime of Super Bowl XXVII is historically significant in the fact that it is the first Super Bowl in history where the television audience increased for the halftime show over the amount that had been watching the game.

Figuring out what will become of Michael Jackson has proven to be one of the toughest things for anyone to do over the last few decades. The only thing that is sure is that he will most likely forever be in the public eye. Michael Jackson’s track record as an entertainer speaks for itself, and his sometimes outlandish behavior is found to be strangely captivating by a number of people that call themselves his fans as well as his detractors.

President Herbert Hoover is probably one of the most controversial presidents in the history of the United States. As the last Republican President before the four continuous administrations of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Hoover was blamed greatly for ineffective leadership at the beginning of the great depression. Here are seven things though that you don’t know about President Herbert Hoover.

1. Herbert Hoover was the first head of any host nation to not attend the Olympics being hosted in their home country. Hoover was President of the United States from 1929-1933 and didn’t attend the Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles in 1932.

2. Herbert Hoover was the first United States President born west of the Mississippi River.

3. Hoover was orphaned after his mother died when he was five and his father died when he was nine.

4. Herbert Hoover attended Stanford University (then known as Leland Stanford Junior University) in the first year of the school’s existence.

5. Less than a decade before being elected President of the United States as a Republican in 1928, Hoover was pursued by Democratic leaders to be their nominee.

6. When former President Hoover toured what would become West Germany following World War II to ascertain what the country’s food needs were, his mode of transportation was rail and his personal car was the former personal car of German Field Marshal Herman Goring.

7. More than twenty years after losing his bid for reelection to Franklin Roosevelt, President Hoover was offered the opportunity to become a Senator from New York to fill an unexpired term, but he turned the opportunity down.

No former President lived longer after leaving office than President Hoover. Through those many years a great deal was done to rehabilitate his image and in later life he was perceived much better than he was when the country was in the thick of the Great Depression. President Hoover led the country through one of its most difficult times, and paid the political price for it too.

Ronald Reagan is easily one of the most famous presidents in the history of the United States. During his time in office, especially his earlier years, he was one of the most respected men both inside his own country’s borders as well as around the world. He of course had his detractors, every politician does, but for an extended period of time he was one of the most widely recognized people in the world. Here are seven things you don’t know about Ronald Reagan.

1. When Ronald Reagan was first elected Governor of California in 1966 he had only been a Republican for four years, having switched from being a Democrat in 1962.

2. Ronald Reagan was the first, and so far only United States President to have been divorced.

3. Ronald and Nancy Reagan were married in 1952 at the Little Brown Church in the San Fernando Valley in California. Reagan’s best man was famous actor William Holden.

4. During Reagan’s two terms as Governor of California, one person was executed by the state.

5. Ronald Reagan was the first American President to open an Olympic Games that was held in the USA.

6. When the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library was dedicated in 1991, it marked the first time in the history of the United States that five US Presidents were in one location (Reagan, Bush, Carter, Ford and Nixon).

7. Ronald Reagan is one of only four US Presidents to reach the age of 90, the others being John Adams, Herbert Hoover and Gerald Ford.

Ronald Reagan is one of the most beloved presidents in the history of the United States. For many different reasons, the citizens by and large flocked to Reagan’s side of most issues while he was in power. The man himself led a fascinating life, from start to finish. He truly was one of the most interesting men ever to reach the position of President of the United States of America.

When it comes to the interesting lives that a President leads before they become President, George Herbert Walker Bush sits near the top of the list. The man has held many positions and accomplished many things, including raising a son who would also reach the office of the presidency, but here are 7 things you don’t know about George Herbert Walker Bush.

1. Following the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor by Japan In 1941, at the age of 18, George H.W. Bush became the youngest naval aviator in United States history.

2. The first President Bush played baseball on the Yale University baseball team and appeared in the first two College World Series ever played.

3. In 1988, while George H.W. Bush was running for President, his opponent Michael Dukakis’ running mate was Lloyd Bentsen. Bentsen had defeated Bush in 1970 in a race for the United States Senate.

4. George H.W. Bush won the first primary (Iowa) in the 1980 Republican Primary before eventually bowing out in the wake of Ronald Reagan’s successful candidacy for President.

5. The last Nimitz class supercarrier produced for the United States Navy was christened the USS George H.W. Bush.

6. When in 1966 he was elected to the United States House of Representatives representing the 7th District of Texas, in doing so he became the first Republican to represent the city of Houston.

7. George H.W. Bush was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1993, he is the third President to have such an honor bestowed upon him after Dwight D. Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan.

Only serving one term has led many to believe that George H.W. Bush was one of the least fascinating men to rise to the level of President of the United States of America. It is obvious looking at his history that this is far from the truth.

Due in part to her successful reality series, My Life On The D List, Kathy Griffin has become extremely popular lately. The series follows her around as she navigates the world of the lower rungs of celebrity. It shows her traveling from show to show and also gives great behind the scenes looks at being a guest on a daytime talk show. With her newfound popularity, there is a great deal known about Ms. Griffin, but here are 7 things you don’t know about Kathy Griffin:

1. Among the many jobs that Kathy Griffin had while trying to become an actress/comedian was sales girl at a infant clothing boutique.

2. Other members of the Groundlings comedy group at the time that she was there included: Will Ferrell, Cheri Oteri, Phil Hartman, Jon Lovitz, Lisa Kudrow, and more.

3. In 2005, Kathy Griffin played a limo driver on an episode of the daytime soap opera ‘Days Of Our Lives’.

4. In her 1981 marriage to Matt Moline, Kathy walked down the aisle to the song “Sister Christian” by the 1980s rock group Night Ranger.

5. It has been noted that she has been banned from appearing on a number of shows

6. Kathy Griffin was dating Quentin Tarrantino at the time of the filming of Pulp Fiction and the director gave her a two line part in the movie.

7. During her wedding in 2001, her maid of honor was none other than Brooke Shields.

One of the most popular parts of her reality show is her interaction with her assistants. This gives good insight into her as a person, although she makes fun of them, she also treats them almost like family. Kathy Griffin’s style of celebrity humor is often described as irreverent, and to her fans this is something she is loved for. When it comes to what heights Kathy Griffin can achieve, there is no stopping this feisty redhead.

When John McCain announced that his vice-presidential running mate was the fresh faced Sarah Palin, he not only made headlines every where, but he also launched the entire country into a quest to answer the question “Who is Sarah Palin?” Sarah Palin grew up to become mayor of the same small town she graduated high school from and then went on to eventually become the Governor of Alaska. She is still relatively new to many Americans, but here are seven things you don’t know about Sarah Palin.

1. In the 1999 political race for the position of Mayor of Wasilla which she had won, she received just 909 votes.

2. She graduated from Wasilla High School in Wasilla, Alaska where she also won the Miss Wasilla beauty contest. Her talent in the competition was playing the flute.

3. She gave birth to her fifth child, son Trig, while serving as Governor of Alaska. She returned to the office for work three days after giving birth.

4. Although elected the Governor of Alaska, she was born in Sandpoint, Idaho.

5. She was chosen to be Republican Presidential Nominee John McCain’s vice-presidential running mate after serving just a little over one year and eight months as Governor of the state of Alaska.

6. She holds the distinction of winning the 2006 Republican gubernatorial primary against a sitting Governor before winning the general election as well.

7. While mayor of Wasilla, Alaska she was seen wearing a Pat Buchanan button during his 1996 presidential run.

To many, Sarah Palin seemed to have come out of nowhere when John McCain thrust her into the spotlight of the national political scene. She remained a controversial selection to many while others saw her as a distinctive and refreshing anti-Washington D.C. pick. No matter what her history is, there is no escaping the fact that Sarah Palin will be in the public eye for quite some time now.

From the time he was a small boy, Wayne Gretzky showed the promise of the future that would be his. He dominated youth hockey, made a much anticipated debut into the National Hockey League, and went on to truly earn the nickname of “The Great One”. There is so much known about Wayne Gretzky, but here are 7 Things You Don’t Know About: Wayne Gretzky.

1. First played professional hockey in the now defunct World Hockey Association (WHA) before he entered the National Hockey League.

2. After his first season in the NHL, Wayne Gretzky did not win the Calder Memorial Trophy that is awarded to the NHL’s top rookie player because of his one year of experience in the WHA. Instead the award was won by Boston Bruins defenseman Ray Bourque.

3. When Wayne Gretzky played for the New York Rangers, it was the only time during his NHL career that he was not the team captain.

4. When the Edmonton Oilers traded Wayne Gretzky to the Los Angeles Kings, the trade included 15 million dollars in cash and three first round draft picks going back to the Oilers.

5. When Wayne Gretzky requested a trade during the 1996 season, the two teams most interested were the New York Rangers and the St. Louis Blues. The trade would eventually be carried out with the Blues. After a half season in St. Louis, Gretzky would then sign with the Rangers.

6. Early in Wayne Gretzky’s career he broke the long standing “50 goals in 50 games” record that had been held by Maurice “The Rocket” Richard and Mike Bossy. Gretzky scored his 50 goals in the first 39 games of the season.

7. Wayne Gretzky’s name appears on the Grey Cup that is awarded to the champion of the Canadian Football League. He was a part owner of the Toronto Argonauts in the early 1990′s when they won the championship.

Wayne Gretzky is not only one of the most famous hockey players in the world, but one of the most famous professional athletes. He has successfully made the transition from hockey player to front office to head coach and is poised to make just as big of an impact off the ice that he made while on the ice. Wayne Gretzky will definitely go down as one of the most important professional athletes in history.

One of the most popular female celebrities today, especially young celebrities, is Miley Cyrus. She is the daughter of Country Music singer Billy Ray Cyrus, famous for his Achy Breaky Heart song a number of years back. Miley stars with her father in the popular Disney Channel television show “Hannah Montana”, in which she plays the dual role of Miley Stewart, regular American teenager, and her secret identity as teen pop star Hannah Montana. There is much known about this young actress and singer, but here are 7 Things You Don’t Know About Miley Cyrus.

1. At the age of fifteen, Miley Cyrus announced she was going to write her life story and received payment of over one million dollars to do so.

2. Miley Cyrus’ first album release was the Hannah Montana soundtrack in 2006. The album would be re-released twice, once with a cover of ‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree’ added to it, and once with the new single ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ added to it.

3. At the famous Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in New York City there is a life size wax replica of Miley Cyrus.

4. Miley Cyrus’ first acting job was in her Dad’s television series ‘Doc’.

5. Before the credits play at the end of Disney’s High School Musical 2, Miley Cyrus can be seen dancing in a yellow top and denim shorts. She is officially credited as “Girl At Pool”.

6. Miley Cyrus’ first movie role was in the 2003 film “Big Fish” in which she was credited as Destiny Cyrus.

7. It wasn’t until May of 2008 that the actress officially changed her name to “Miley Cyrus”, she had been born Destiny Hope Cyrus and nicknamed “Miley” because she was always smiling. When changing her name, she chose “Ray” as her middle name, just like her father Billy Ray Cyrus.

With her high level of popularity and what appears to be a good business sense, the public will continue to see Miley Cyrus for many years to come. She has the advantage of having had the Disney publicity machine behind her in her earliest days, and appears to be ready to take it from there by herself.

Dick Cheney has been the Vice President under George W. Bush for all eight years of his Presidency. Cheney has served in government nearly his whole life in one capacity or another, except for brief breaks to serve occasionally as the head of a corporation or on a company’s board of directors. There are a number of stories about Dick Cheney, from how he was in charge of the search for a Vice President for George W. Bush before being named the Vice-Presidential candidate himself to how he accidentally shot a hunting companion in the face. But, here are 7 Things You Don’t Know About: Dick Cheney.

1. In Dick Cheney’s own words, he “flunked out” of Yale University.

2. When he left his position to run as George W. Bush’s Vice-President, Dick Cheney received a $20 million dollar retirement package from Halliburton after serving as the company’s CEO from 1995-2000.

3. Dick Cheney served in some capacity in the White House’s of Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush.

4. In his early 20′s, Dick Cheney was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated on two different occasions.

5. Dick Cheney was not the first choice to be Secretary of Defense under President George H. W. Bush, first choice Senator John Tower was rejected by the Senate.

6. Dick Cheney served the United States as “Acting President of the United States” on two different occasions when President George W. Bush was undergoing a medical procedure that required sedation.

7. Dick Cheney is the only Vice-President in the history of the United States to ever have the Articles of Impeachment introduced against them.

Dick Cheney will go down in history as one of the more hands-on Vice Presidents in America’s past. Many Vice-Presidents in history took a backseat role in their party and their administration, but the same cannot be said for Dick Cheney. He is truly one of the more interesting characters in recent history.

John Elway is the legendary quarterback of the Denver Broncos that led them to two Super Bowl victories just before retiring and then later entering the Professional Football Hall of Fame. He is one of the most popular players in Denver Broncos history, but here are 7 Things You Don’t Know About: John Elway.

1. John Elway’s last game of college football is famous for a reason completely unrelated to him. His last game was the now famous Cal-Stanford game in which the Cal Bears returned the final kickoff of the game, with the help of five laterals, for the winning touchdown.

2. John and Janet Elway have four children and their names also start with the letter “J”. Their names are Jessica, Jordan and Juliana, and Jack.

3. In his one season of minor league baseball in 1982, John Elway batted .318 and led the team in RBI.

4. At the age of 38, John Elway became the oldest player to score a touchdown in a Super Bowl.

5. There are two number sevens that have been inducted into the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame, John Elway and also the quarterback that preceded him, Craig Morton.

6. During his son’s senior year of high school, John Elway served as his and his team’s quarterback coach.

7. John Elway was the number one overall pick in the 1983 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Colts who later famously traded him to the Broncos after he threatened not to play for them. The players he was traded for were Quarterback Mark Herrmann, Offensive Lineman Chris Hinton, and a first round draft pick that ended up being Offensive Lineman Ron Solt.

John Elway will go down in history as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. He will be remembered fondly, and not just in Denver, as football fans in many cities took a liking to him based on his hard nosed play and successful results.
