There are many sides to Canada including vibrant urban cities, desolate northern wilderness, and beautiful outdoors destinations.  The country has had an interesting and long history too.  Here are seven things you don&#8217;t know about the nation of Canada.</p>
<blockquote><p>1.  In 2003, the Canadian province of Yukon Territory was officially renamed Yukon.</p>
<p>2.  The Robert-Bourassa Generating Station in Quebec is not only Canada&#8217;s largest hydroelectric power station, it is also the largest underground power station in the entire world.</p>
<p>3.  During World War II, Canada granted asylum and protection to the monarchy of the Netherlands after that country had been invaded and occupied by Nazi Germany.</p>
<p>4.  The most populated island in all of Canada is the Island of Montreal.  It sits in southwestern Quebec and is situated where the Saint Lawrence and Ottawa Rivers meet.  More than 1.2 million people live on the Island of Montreal.</p>
<p>5.  The first white man to cross North America north of Mexico was Sir Alexander Mackenzie, a Scottish explorer who for a time served in the Legislature of Lower Canada.</p>
<p>6.  Canada was formed as a nation in 1867, but the national flag of Canada, the famous Maple Leaf, was not adopted until 1965.</p>
<p>7.  The smallest province in all of Canada is Prince Edward Island which consists of one island containing roughly 2,190 square miles of land.  There are 22 other islands in the nation of Canada that are larger than this province.</p></blockquote>

Jamaica is much more than that though, it has a rich history in the area stretching back to the time of European settlement.  Here are seven things you don&#8217;t know about the island of Jamaica.</p>
<blockquote><p>1.  The island of Jamaica was seized by the British in 1655, this move was led by Admiral William Penn who was the father of William Penn of Pennsylvania fame.</p>
<p>2.  Jamaica did not achieve full independence from the United Kingdom until 1962.</p>
<p>3.  Jamaica is divided up by 14 parishes, half of them are named after saints:  Saint Elizabeth, Saint James, Saint Ann, Saint Catherine, Saint Mary, Saint Andrew and Saint Thomas.</p>
<p>4.  Ian Fleming, author of the best selling James Bond novels, lived a large portion of his adult life in the nation of Jamaica.</p>
<p>5.  Hollywood legend Errol Flynn, famous for roles such as Robin Hood, kept a home in Jamaica for many years.</p>
<p>6.  In 2005, Jamaica had the highest per capita murder rate in the entire world.</p>
<p>7.  The country of Jamaica operates nine lighthouses to aid in the shipping industry that is a large part of their economy.</p></blockquote>

2.  Electricity and telephone service were not brought to Dubai until the 1950s.<br />
3.  Though located in the Middle East, oil and other fuel industries make up less than 10% of Dubai&#8217;s yearly economy.<br />
4.  The Burj Al Arab, located in Dubai, is the world&#8217;s tallest free standing hotel.<br />
5.  The largest nationality represented in the permanent residents of Dubai is Indian.  Over 1/3 of the people living in Dubai trace their nationality to India.<br />
